A recent decision of the Supreme Court means that landowners are able to take greater action to protect their land from trespassers. In Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs v Meier and others [2009] UKSC 11; [2009] WLR (D) 347, it was held on 1st December 2009 that a landowner could apply for an injunction to prevent travellers moving fro one area of land to another in the same ownership. The court was however not willing to grant possession orders if the other land was not yet occupied.
